Sri Lanka officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and known as Ceylon before 1972, is an island country in South Asia, located about 31 kilometres (19.3 mi) off the southern coast of India. As a result of its location in the path of major sea routes, Sri Lanka is a strategic naval link between West Asia and South East Asia. It has also been a center of the Buddhist religion and culture from ancient times and is one of the few remaining abodes of Buddhism in South Asia, including Ladakh, Bhutan and the Chittagong Hill Tracts, as well as being a bastion of Hinduism. |

| The Sinhalese community forms the majority of the population; Tamils, who are concentrated in the north and east of the island, form the largest ethnic minority. Other communities include Moors, Burghers, Kaffirs, Malays and the indigenous people. The country is famous for the production and export of tea, coffee, coconuts, rubber and cinnamon - which is native to the country. The natural beauty of Sri Lanka's tropical forests, beaches and landscape. The island also boasts the first female Prime Minister in the modern world, Sirimavo Bandaranaike.After over two thousand years of rule by local and Tamil kingdoms from India, parts of Sri Lanka were colonized by Portugal and the Netherlands beginning in the 16th century, before control of the entire country was ceded to the British Empire in 1815. During World War II, Sri Lanka served as an important base for Allied forces in the fight against the Japanese Empire. A nationalist political movement arose in the country in the early 20th century with the aim of obtaining political independence, which was eventually granted by the British after peaceful negotiations in 1948. |

DAY 1: Arrival in Colombo and Transfer to Negombo
Begin your journey upon arrival in Colombo, where you will be met by local tours Representative who will assist you with the transfer and check-in to the Browns Beach Hotel in Negombo. The rest of the day is free at leisure for you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings on your own. Stay overnight at the Hotel.
DAY 2: Negombo Sightseeing and Transfer to Kandy
In the morning, wake up and have a delicious warm breakfast at the Hotel before for another day of fun. First you will visit the Manawari Temple and the Muneswaram Temple Chilaw, followed by a drive through Wariyapola and Hiripitiya. Then proceed to Kandy where you will check-in at the Hill Top Hotel. In the evening, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic before heading back to your Hotel for a peaceful nights’ sleep.
DAY 3: Transfer to Nuwara Eliya with Sightseeing
After an early breakfast at the Hotel, you will proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Enroute visit the Sri Bhakthar Hanuman Temple in Ramboda, Manikattateru, Divurumpola, Gayathri Pedam and the Seetha Amman Temple. Upon arrival, check-in to the Galway Forest Lodge and enjoy a restful nights’ sleep.
DAY 4: Transfer to Colombo with Sightseeing
Enjoy a yummy breakfast at the Hotel before proceeding to Colombo and checking-in to the Grand Oriental Hotel. Enroute, visit the Panchamuga Anjaneyar Temple. In the afternoon, depart for a sightseeing tour of the city. The Colombo City Tour will take you to the old Parliament, the residential areas and the BMICH (Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall), a Hindu Kovil, and a Buddhist Temple. You will also have the opportunity to observe the Galle Face Green and visit the Fort Bazaar. After the tour, you can go shopping. Colombo offers a wide variety of shops and bazaars for you to choose from - visit the House of Fashion, Majestic City Shopping Complex, ODEL Unlimited Dress Boutique, Noritake Ceramic Showroom, Barefoot Gallery and the Lakmedura Handicraft Centre. At night, head back to your Hotel for another restful nights’ sleep
DAY 5: Departure from Sri Lanka
Have breakfast at the Hotel before heading back to the airport for your return journey home, full of wonderful memories from your trip. |
